ABOUT US
EPHPHATHA: Be Open. Be Heard. Be YOU!
At Ephphatha Speech Therapy, we believe communication is deeply personal. It’s how we connect, express who we are, build relationships, and participate fully in life. Because of that, speech therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.

With experience across a wide range of diagnoses, ages, and settings, I’ve seen firsthand how rigid systems and cookie-cutter goals can miss what truly matters. People are often asked to fit neatly into standardized plans that don’t reflect who they are, how they live, or what they value most. That approach didn't feel right to me.

Every person and family is unique. Even when diagnoses are the same, no two individuals experience or respond to them in the same way. Therapy should reflect that.

The name Ephphatha (EFF-ah-thah) comes from an ancient word meaning “be opened.” For us, it represents opening pathways to communication, confidence, and connection—whatever that looks like for each individual. It’s about creating space for voices to be heard, for understanding to grow, and for people to feel more fully themselves in their relationships and daily lives.

OUR APPROACH
Empowering Communication and Confidence
Ephphatha was created to allow space for therapy that is individualized, flexible, and meaningful—free from unnecessary restrictions. Here, goals are built around real life, not just test results. We focus on what feels most important to you and your family, and we work toward those goals in ways that actually translate beyond the therapy room.

That might mean:
-
Practicing fluency strategies at the playground, not just in a quiet office
-
Holding family sessions so everyone feels confident and supported using AAC
-
Creating a personal visual memory photo album to help a loved one with dementia stay engaged and connected
-
Taking therapy into real-world environments where communication truly happens
Because communication doesn’t exist in isolation—and neither should therapy.

At its core, this work is about connection. We are meant to connect with other humans—to laugh, cry, share stories, ask for help, give direction, express emotions, and be understood.
When communication breaks down, those moments can feel frustrating, isolating, or overwhelming. My goal is to help rebuild those bridges in ways that feel natural, respectful, and empowering.

Through thoughtful, creative, and functional therapy, we aim to create more meaningful moments, one person/family at a time.
